WHY I'M RUNNING

LIST OF ISSUES
I want to work for you. One of the greatest lessons we can teach our children is that education matters. Being involved in our children's education and advocating for them shows its importance. I want to advocate for all the students in the Edmonds School District. I want to improve our schools and create a healthy and vibrant community. With nearly a decade of working with school districts and several decades of finance experience, I know what it takes to find solutions, navigate the complicated budgets, and get things done.
Equity & Inclusion

In my 12 years of volunteerism in the Edmonds School District, I have seen the depth of our diverse student population.  As Director, I will help to support our strategic plan and seek opportunities to align it with our educators’ needs to allow for student achievement for ALL students.

I am committed to collaboration. I believe that a Board, superintendent and community that works together around policies that achieve student success creates a strong community.

The Edmonds School District must provide the best for our children, support our dedicated teachers and staff and create graduates ready for college or careers.

Increased Graduation Rates

Our current graduation rate is 81.9%. This is in the bottom 2/3 of the country. I find this unacceptable. Our children deserve better. I know we can do better. Let's strive to increase this number well beyond the national average of 83% and look to have all of our students graduate high school and be prepared for college, career and life!

Fully Funding Education

Fully funding education is the foremost issue facing our school system. The reality is that public education in this state remains underfunded. Given this reality, the district must allocate its limited resources wisely, in a manner that best benefits all children.

Quality Educators

Student achievement is the focus for me. Highly skilled teachers and staff are keys to improved student achievement. I believe the Board’s role is to foster an educational environment where students thrive and therefore believe that investing in our educators creates that environment. We must leave no stone unturned to support our educators in reaching all students.
